General Information for ISAAR 2009, 26-28 August 2009


Introduction

The general subject of the meeting is "Binaural processing and spatial hearing". The concept is to consider this topic from different perspectives, including current physiological concepts, perceptual measures and models as well as implications for new technical applications.

The symposium will be divided into the following sessions:

Session 1. Physiological measures and models of binaural processing
Session 2. Perceptual measures and models of spatial hearing
Session 3. Speech processing and perception under adverse conditions
Session 4. Recent concepts in binaural cochlear-implant and hearing-aid processing

Participants are encouraged to present free papers and posters.

Contributed oral presentations (free papers) are planned to be 15 or 20 minutes including 5 minutes for questions. Poster areas are 1.4 m high and 1.23 m wide. Possibility for mains connection (220 V AC).

Abstracts

Abstracts (max 200 words) for presentations (free papres) and posters must be sent via email to: isaar@elektro.dtu.dk. Contributions will be evaluated by the organizing committee. Accepted presentations and posters will - in a written version, max 8 pages - be printed in the symposium proceedings.

Symposium Fee

  • Participant fee is DKK 5.100,- . This covers participation in the symposium; full accommodation including single room for 2 nights; all meals and social activities during the symposium and a copy of the symposium proceedings.
  • Reduced fee, DKK 4.500,- each, if two participants are sharing a double room.
  • Student fee, NO room, is DKK 2.500,-
  • Spouse fee is DKK 1.700,- including all meals and shared room.
  • Full refund for registration before 25 May 2009

    Deadline for cancellation with full refund (excl. handling charge DKK 500,-) is 25 May 2009. No refund is available after this deadline.

    Instruction to authors

    Manuscripts from both oral- and poster presentations will be published in the proceedings book and distributed to all participants after the symposium. Manuscripts must be delivered (in electronic form) to the organizers by the end of the symposium.

    Information and template for lay-out of manuscripts will be send to authors. The manuscripts of the invited speakers should be limited to 12 pages including the figures. Contributed papers (including poster presentations) will be restricted to 8 pages including the figures. Figures might be reduced to fit the final layout, so please do not make figures too detailed. All figures will be printed in B/W.

    Conference venue

    The conference will take place at the end of August 2009 in beautiful surroundings at Hotel Marienlyst, Helsingør, Denmark. Marienlyst is located 40 km north of central Copenhagen. The conference venue is easily reached from Copenhagen Airport, (CPH). See www.Marienlyst.dk

    About the weather

    The weather in Denmark is unpredictable. Day temperatures between 15 and 25 degree centigrade. Frequent showers and often windy. See the forecast (English/German) .

    Travel Information

    Nearest airport is Copenhagen Airport "Kastrup Lufthavn" (CPH).
    From the airport you will find regional trains directly to Helsingør. (time: 1h20m)
    At Helsingør station a local train (Hornbækbanen) may take you to Marienlyst (Second stop from Helsingør, Time: 5 min). Taxi dkr. 60,- (approx. 10 US$)
    Use "Rejseplanen" to assist your planning of local transportation.

    On planning your return, prepare 2 hours for transport to Copenhagen Airport and another 2 hours for check-in and security check in the airport.
